Reykjavík's nights run on bass. The electro-pop and dance-pop coming out of the city's clubs is built for sweaty rooms: fierce beats, soft vocals and a lot of low end. Daughters of Reykjavík started in 2013 out of women's rap nights, and their lyrics still cover partying, politics, feminism and sex, switching between Icelandic and English. Founding member Salka Valsdóttir is also half of the electro duo SCAM, who mix dance, pop and hardcore techno on a setup as small as percussion and a mixing desk, then throw yellow rubber gloves into the crowd. Inspector Spacetime bring the same heavy bottom end, and Digital ísland and Sísý Ey are the newer electro-pop acts pushing in. A Paste reviewer at a New York night called it "addictive underground electro-pop" with "enough bass to rearrange your internal organs." In summer, the midnight sun keeps the clubs going until morning.
On the WorldWidePop playlist, nothing new came in this month, so October 2026 is a holding pattern. The track standing is Daughters of Reykjavík's BOSSY with Balcony Boyz, a fitting anchor for a collective that has spent more than a decade making hip-hop that sounds like a club night.
Listening so far comes from Russia, according to the comments. Next, keep an eye on Iceland Airwaves, running 5 to 7 November across downtown Reykjavík, where the new electro-pop acts take the stage.
