The Chart Leaders
Ronisia steps directly to the front of the local charts with “Cuenta,” flanked by Meryl and Shay. The track pulled 1.5 million streams in a single week to enter Spotify’s domestic Top 10 at number eight while climbing to number five on Apple Music. The single leads into her album Sensation, announced through her official store for release on October 30, 2026, marking another targeted progression for an artist blending modern R&B and hip-hop.
Right beside her on heavy rotation is Franglish. Born Gédéon Mundele Ngolo in Paris, he developed an approach that moves fluidly between rapping and melody, tracing back to his 2013 mixtape Franglish Prototype and his 2019 debut album Monsieur. His fourth album, Prime, was delivered as an introspective surprise project unassisted by featured guests, announced during a Paris concert ahead of performances in Congo and plans for an African tour. The record hit number nine locally, propelled by the single “Position,” which reached number four, alongside companion cut “Si t’es pas là.”
Online, the response zeroes in on his technical range. Under his “Squad X Petit coeur” video, a viewer pointed out, “ce gars est vraiment fort faut le reconnaitre” (“you have to admit this guy is really strong”). Franglish maintained that pace through tracks like “Solide” and “SHAKE” in 2024 and “Génération impolie” in 2026, stacking five diamond singles and a sold-out Accor Arena date before releasing Aura.
Aya Nakamura commands the mainstream through sustained chart dominance. Born Aya Danioko in Bamako and operating from the Paris suburbs in Aulnay-sous-Bois, her catalogue—spanning 2017’s Journal Intime, 2018’s breakthrough Nakamura, 2020’s Aya, and 2023’s DNK—established an authoritative synthesis of R&B, Afrobeats, and urban-pop. In late 2026, her presence remained fixed at the top, landing “Sexy Nana” with La Rvfleuze at number four on Spotify with 1.9 million weekly streams, alongside “La pétasse” at number nine. In the live circuit, her three 2026 dates at the Stade de France drew nearly 220,000 attendees.
Club Pressure and Antillean Rhythms
The sound of local nightlife is steered by dancehall, shatta, and bouyon movements. Ambre Zamor, performing as Bamby, has emerged as a central figure from French Guiana. Operating through her own label, Muse & Music, her debut full-length MUSE arrived on March 21, 2025, delivering 15 tracks that featured Nigerian vocalist Pheelz. Her Kerchak collaboration, “Pas Jalouse,” generated more than 10 million streams, running alongside visual releases like “GANGSTA” featuring Himra, “BMW” with Natoxie, and earlier catalog entries such as “Real Wifey” and “Sugar Daddy.”
That momentum reflects a wider integration of Antillean club styles into the commercial core. In Martinique, shatta operates as an everyday pulse through sound systems, car stereos, and major regional stations like Trace and NRJ Martinique. Those rhythms crossed into the national top 50 via cuts like Damso and Kalash’s “Alpha” and Theodora’s “KONGOLESE SOUS BBL.” Kalash’s “Laptop,” featuring Maureen, cemented the shift by earning a platinum certification in September 2024, becoming the first shatta title to reach that threshold in the domestic market.
Developing Voices in the Capital
In Paris and its surrounding rings, younger acts are altering the balance between sharp lyricism and melody. In Asnières-sur-Seine, 18-year-old rappeuse Sydo established herself through the Rappeuses en Liberté platform. Grounded in childhood piano and vocal training, she began writing at 13 and dropped Instagram freestyles by 15. Her sound moves between precise writing and vocal runs across cuts like “Aucune attache,” “2MLP,” “Changer,” “Belinda, Pt. 1,” “5 étoiles,” and “LAID-BACK.”
Operating from Paris, rapper and songwriter HINA explores an intimate, hybrid lane. Selected for the Chantier des Francos 2026, she built out an early catalog with tracks like “Oh Nina” and “Rejoins Moi Ce Soir” before collaborating with producer Abdellah “Mess” Messous—known for his sessions with Tif, Danyl, and ZKR—on “Parenthèse,” followed by “Casa drift” and “Fantaisie.”
The Mainstream Foundation
The broader commercial floor remains controlled by rap and R&B, which locked down the upper tiers of the 2023 annual charts. Werenoi claimed the top-selling album of that year with CARRE, while Jul placed eight distinct releases inside the annual sales rankings. Major names like Ninho, SDM, Gazo, Tiakola, Hamza, PLK, and Djadja & Dinaz sustain steady numbers at the top of the streaming charts, where Nakamura stood as the only solo female artist in the 2023 sales top 20.
While Nakamura has drawn massive international streaming tallies—crossing 13 million monthly listeners on Spotify as the most-streamed domestic female export—the weight of the scene remains entirely local. It stays focused on suburban studios, packed concert halls, and physical arrivals like Ronisia’s Sensation, landing in stores on October 30, 2026.
