Mexico Playlist

Mexico's club and indie nights are running on synths and guitars right now. House of Vans' "Next Era" night in early October was billed as exactly that, free entry for 18 and up, pushing the independent scene. Dream-pop has its own devoted crowd too: a packed Foro Indie Rocks room came out for covers of Julee Cruise and Erasure, and the genre keeps reviving its 1990s cult following. Electronic-pop acts with long roots are still turning heartbreak into dance nights, and Halloween is the hook tying the city's club and indie calendar together this month.

Seven videos came into the WorldWidePop playlist this October. Six were added together, and Emi Blue's "LOBA" came in on its own. Two of the additions are throwbacks: DENISSE ECHAVARRIA's "Libido (mix)" and YeriMua's "Croketita" have been on YouTube since 2024, so the page is pairing this season's fresh singles, such as Lady Yeska's "Me Dice", ingratax's "BONSAI" and Xiuhtezcatl's "SÍGUEME", with older cuts that still hold a room. That mix says the scene is looking both forward and back.

Commenters are writing in from Peru, Colombia and Canada, with Peru leading. If you are going out this month, the next stop is Ruido Joven on 31 October: free, all ages, at PARCUR in Bosque de Chapultepec, with more than 120 bands, merch and a Halloween and Día de Muertos theme. The live stage lineup has not been announced yet, so watch that space.
