In mid-2026, Hanoi rapper and singer-songwriter Nghiêm Vũ Hoàng Long, performing as RPT MCK, disrupted local rotation by issuing HVL, a sprawling 30-track studio album clocking in at over 90 minutes. Backed by his 311synd collective, the project racked up 6.1 million YouTube views within five days of its June release and sent 11 tracks onto the Official Vietnam Chart, with “If We Don’t Have Each Other” featuring A$AP Ướt Mi claiming number one. The campaign began in April with an ambitious trailer filmed with TBWAMedia Arts Lab Vietnam and directed by Phương Vũ of Antiantiart, before MCK released a run of visually complex videos for standout tracks like “Nhìn Kẻ Thù Của Tao” (“Look at My Enemy”) and “Oanh M = Thuoc”.

The album’s rollout met friction on 31 July 2026 when 19 tracks were temporarily pulled from platforms over explicit language. Under the October video for “Oanh M = Thuoc”, one listener satirized the regulatory climate directly: “Tôi cam kết nghe bài hát này trong trạng thái minh mẫn nhất” (“I pledge to listen to this song in my clearest state of mind”). MCK restored the material via edited versions, paired them with the official October music videos for “Nhìn Kẻ Thù Của Tao” and “Oanh M = Thuoc”, and followed up with the new single “Không Cần Lo Cho Tao”, which hit number one on YouTube Charts Vietnam on 13 October.

The weight of MCK’s catalog—which traces back to his early 2018 work under the name Ngơ and high-profile singles like “Chìm sâu”, “Tại vì sao”, “Dân chơi xóm”, and “Giàu vì bạn, Sang vì vợ”—shares space with a regional shift led by artists working outside the capital. From the Mekong Delta, Yung Ni99 (Trần Thái Hòa) has built an audience of over 85,000 monthly Spotify listeners by pairing heavy trap beats with his region’s vocal cadence. Produced in partnership with beatmaker Nicotrbl, his breakthrough track “Cold Palmer” anchored the 2025 mixtape I TRUST MY FLOW. Yung Ni99 extended that momentum across 2026 with the project Wild West, the March single “Tag Khỉ” issued through MIXUS, and consecutive music videos for “TRÁPSTAR” in May and “NSCN” in September. Under the “NSCN” upload, one viewer simply summarized the shift in style: “Nhạc sex” (“Sex music”).

Between those fringes and the center of the industry sits Binz (Lê Nguyễn Trung Đan). An underground figure since 2008 who spent a decade in the United States before returning to Vietnam in 2018, Binz helped move trap and poetic hip-hop into mainstream rooms as a core artist of SS Label and SpaceSpeakers. Tracks like “They Said”, “Sao Cung Duoc”, and the 2020 hit “Bigcityboi”—which amassed over 97 million YouTube views—reshaped the sonic profile of domestic radio. Following his 2023 release “HIT ME UP” with NOMOVODKA, Binz delivered his 11-track debut album Gặp Lại in May 2026, threading rap verses through collaborations with SOOBIN, Phan Mạnh Quỳnh, Hà Lê, SUGI, and Obito.

Pop-rap lyricist Pháo (Nguyễn Diệu Huyền) follows a parallel path of tension between television fame and street singles. After breaking out of Tuyên Quang and placing as runner-up on King of Rap, she entered 2025 by aiming the diss record “Sự nghiệp chướng” at ViruSs and appearing on Em xinh say hi. In 2026, she pivoted from the April drop “NO CHASE KHÔNG TUNE”—whose preceding “No Chase” music video pulled 2.3 million views—to Ctrl X, a September heartbreak EP featuring Machiot-produced tracks like “Thay Đổi”, “Chỉ là thừa”, and “Xóa tên em đi”.

This current landscape builds directly on the infrastructure left behind by broadcast competitions and older independent rap networks. On Spotify’s Rap Việt rankings, high-rotation entries include “Anh Là Ai?” by Dick, DT, and UMIE, “Khi Cơn Mơ Dần Phai” by Tez and Myra Trần, and Dangrangto’s “Đâu Phải Vợ Anh”. Former competitor RHYDER took a modern sonic cue in 2025 with TRAP, a 10-track solo record pairing R&B and Afrobeat under production from 2pillz and WOKEUP alongside Andree Right Hand. It sits leagues away from the darker underground era defined by MCs like Táo, whose 2019 debut Đĩa Than followed early solo drops like “Morphine” and “Tâm Thần Phân Liệt”.

At the top of the domestic charts sits singer-songwriter Sơn Tùng M-TP, who runs M-TP Entertainment. Having launched his career with self-written singles “Cơn mưa ngang qua” and “Em của ngày hôm qua”, his output dominates the weekly Official Vietnam Chart, where he won Top Local Artist of the Year for 2024 and Song of the Year for “Đừng Làm Trái Tim Anh Đau”, while “Chúng Ta Của Tương Lai” held the second spot. While export moments happen—Pháo’s Masew collaboration “2 Phút Hơn” crossed borders when the KAIZ remix topped Shazam, and Sơn Tùng M-TP cut English-language singles and worked with Snoop Dogg—the local ecosystem operates entirely on domestic energy.

Right now, that momentum is anchored by releases like “Không Cần Lo Cho Tao”, where MCK trades on raw, localized wordplay over contemporary trap beats.
