Sweden's October club calendar leans hard into the past and into synths. In Stockholm, Black Planet's 90s night at Slakthuset runs three floors: 90s techno, acid and hardcore on one, Eurodance on another, and a trance lounge on the third. The organisers say their last two editions each drew about 1,000 people and sold out at the door. Rikky Disco's night at the same venue on 9 October blends disco house, French house and funky house with live vocals, guitar and keys, and London's The Wild Violets bring a 70s-leaning hybrid set. Pop Divas and LASHES, also in Stockholm, pitch the same Y2K dance-pop nostalgia, though that comes from the event listings, not from what crowds are saying. In Gothenburg, Supernatural Dance on 17 and 18 October is billed as a synth, HiNRG and Italo Disco night, with UK act Knight$, whose blend is called "Britalodisco," and Swedish synthpop duo Ankomst.
On the WorldWidePop playlist, nothing new arrived this October. The Sweden page still holds just one video, Superjalda's ANIME MIG, so the month's story is stillness. Superjalda's BLOND is out and easy to find, but nothing we've seen shows how it lands on a dancefloor, so we're not claiming it does. The gap between a scene moving this fast and a page with one entry is the thing to watch.
Listeners are checking in from Norway, Germany and Serbia. For anyone chasing the sound, Supernatural Dance is the one to plan around: only 130 tickets, and a small room like that tends to go quickly.
