Belgium Playlist

Brussels is loud right now, and the noise is coming from clubs, not playlists. Overdrive, a one-day indoor festival at Het Depot in Leuven on 22 October, bills Belgian acts as "pushing against the threshold of breakthrough," and you can feel that threshold on the floor. Lipstick Music sets a nostalgic early-2000s aesthetic against futuristic bass and heavy basslines, and it's already one of the most notable new acts in the electronic scene. Jean-Paul Groove, a Brussels trio, plays punk-minded funky electronics built on original rave culture, aimed squarely at bodies moving. Over at Birdy Brussels on 10 October, the night runs from 23:00 to 05:00 on afrobeats, shatta and dancehall under the slogan "Make the girls dance." Meanwhile WEBSTEK plays Dutch-language music that feels internet-born and stubbornly its own.

This month the WorldWidePop playlist added nothing. No videos went up in October 2026, and the whole shelf is two tracks: Issah's BADDIES IN BELGICA and Kipili's Tagada. That's a thin shelf for a scene this busy, and it's the honest read on where the playlist stands. The sound on the floor is moving faster than the page that's meant to follow it.

Listeners are writing in from Kinshasa, Brazzaville and Spain, with Kinshasa doing most of the talking. If you want to hear where the scene goes next, start with CLUB UNTZ at Het Depot on 16 October, pitched as "leftfield sounds and hard-hitting dance tracks," then head to Overdrive a week later.
