If you want the entry point into modern Bulgarian pop, start with DARA’s 2018 single “Vse Na Men.” Coming two years after the Varna singer launched her career with the 2016 debut “K’vo ne chu,” the track locked in the lean R&B bounce and vocal presence that defined Darina Yotova’s early run at Virginia Records. Around the same time, she teamed with Pavell & Venci Venc’ on “Sreshtu Men,” sliding directly into the collaborative core of Sofia’s commercial airplay circuit.

DARA’s trajectory ran parallel to a tight circle of hitmakers who spent the late 2010s reshaping the sound of the domestic charts. Pavell & Venci Venc’ set the pace with their debut album SeTaaBrat, which earned gold status, topped local Spotify and iTunes charts, and generated nine airplay number ones behind tracks like “Havana.” As a songwriter and producer, Pavell (Pavel Nikolov) became one of the industry’s quiet engines, writing for DARA, Krisko, Santra, and Mihaela Marinova. In 2023, he started his solo career with the self-authored “3 Поне” and the follow-up “13,” establishing a solo catalog leading toward his project Метален and its preview single “Съдба.”

Venci Venc’ (Ventsislav Chanov) built a separate lane just as deliberate. Working from his apartment in Slatina with sound engineer Teodor Dimitrov, he mapped out roughly 27 solo tracks, launching the run with 2023’s “Davam” before releasing “Slanchogledi” and “Momchetata ot bloka.” By 2025, he stepped into a producer role to oversee “Zatvor” for 16-year-old newcomer DARYA, while stacking club releases like “SKANDAL,” “ZABRANENO,” and “EVRO.”

Krisko provided the common thread across much of this network. Active since 2004 and co-owning Adamand Records, he followed his early breakthrough “Ludo Noshti” by dominating video charts with 2017’s “Bazooka” and “Лош или добър.” He linked the scene’s key players, joining Pavell & Venci Venc’ on “GEROI” and partnering with Slavi Trifonov on 2018’s “Gledai Kak Se Pravi,” before releasing his first studio album, Хамелеон, in 2023.

That shared energy also introduced Gery-Nikol, whose Krisko-assisted 2015 debut “Ela i si vzemi” went to number one. The Varna singer brought aggressive street-pop to club floors on 2017’s “Naprao Gi Ubivam” alongside 100 Kila—a record that gathered more than 63 million video views—before dropping “NAD ZAKONA” and later solo singles like “Bitcoin” and “Molya te.”

Mihaela Marinova supplied the counterpart vocal weight across Virginia Records’ catalog. After establishing herself with “Stapka napred,” Marinova joined Pavell & Venci Venc’ on 2017’s “Listata Padat” and released “Ochi v Ochi” in 2018. Her 2024 album Black Butterfly collected ten tracks shaped with collaborators including Pavel, Monoir, and Cristian Pistol, led by the single “Da izbyagam.”

DARA kept refining her output alongside them. From early releases like “Rodena takava” and the 2019 V:rgo collaboration “Sosa mazhe,” she moved into polished radio singles like “Thunder,” “Call Me,” and “Mr. Rover.” With more than 80 million cumulative streams and views, that stretch paved the way for her 2025 album ADHDARA, landing just as Pavell brings Метален to the stage at Club Mixtape.
