Filipino-language tracks are running the Apple Music Philippines chart right now. On the 4 October snapshot, Mariah Deborah's "Na Para Bang" sat at number one, with several RAPROJECT SIX tracks and DENȲ's "Alam Ko Na" close behind. P-pop, the polished blend of pop, choreography and studio sheen that 1Z Entertainment has built, fills the big stages. Meanwhile KINKI, an 80-square-metre room above TETSUO in Poblacion, Makati, runs on budots remixes. Transit Records hosts Friday's Provider night, and Thursdays belong to queer collectives like ELEPHANT. The floor goes from glossy pop to hard-edged dance in one night.
This month the WorldWidePop playlist added six videos. Nadine Lustre's "Donuts" and Ashtine Olviga's "Hinga" came in, along with ApoyLiyab13's "SMOKE" and NxtVibe's "Girl Next Door". The batch runs from established names to independent channels, which fits a scene that is less one sound than a lot of rooms running at once. These are all current videos, added to the list now rather than revived from the archive.
Listeners are tuning in from India, Bangladesh and the United States, so the sound is already travelling past Manila. Watch the calendar. ONE ZONE FEST at Araneta Coliseum has SB19 on the bill, and PLUS63 returns to Aseana City in November with its lineup still growing.
