The Hipdut Engine: Tenxi, Jemsii, and Naykilla

On Jakarta’s Local Pulse chart, rap, dance, and hipdut regularly cut through standard pop rotations. While pop claimed nine spots on the tally, hipdut held three alongside hip-hop and indie entries. The surge behind that sound tracks directly back to the ANTINRML collective and its core architects: producer Jemsii, rapper Tenxi, and singer-songwriter Naykilla.

The trio set off a widespread run in December 2024 with “Garam & Madu (Sakit Dadaku).” The track pulled two million YouTube views in its first two days, reached number one on Apple Music Indonesia, and secured Karya Produksi Terbaik Terbaik at the AMI Awards in November 2025. Tenxi, born Joan Pasha Syahputra in Sidoarjo, East Java, had been writing and producing since his high school days in 2016, debuting with the hip-hop and R&B cut “Dedicated” before leaning into the combination of dangdut patterns and rap production that defines hipdut. Alongside 808Bunny, Tenxi heads the ANTINRML label and collective, where Sukabumi-born musician Jemsii—formerly half of the early-2020s duo JEJA—serves as music director. Jemsii’s production work on “Garam & Madu” picked up Produser Rekaman Terbaik at the 2025 AMI ceremony.

Surabaya-raised vocalist Naykilla, who released solo material including “Believe” and “Honey & Lemon” between 2019 and 2021, provided the vocal core for the movement. Her Centyl EP catalogued this sound across cuts like “Bahasa Tubuhmu,” “Geleng Geleng,” and “Kasih Aba-Aba,” the April 2025 collaboration pairing her back up with Tenxi and Jemsii. Naykilla followed with the June 2026 drop “MMG (My Mine Gueh),” while Tenxi and Jemsii delivered the joint single “Bintang 5” in January 2026.

Bandung’s High-Energy Circuit: Naufal Syachreza

Bandung rapper Naufal Syachreza came up through the same network, active since 2022 with early drops like “4U!” and “ALL DA THINGS.” His breakthrough arrived alongside Tenxi and Jemsii on the 2025 single “hoRRReg,” a club track that collected over 46 million Spotify plays and soundtracked more than six million TikTok clips. Syachreza layers heavy dangdut percussion under rap bars, turning that template into his May 2026 debut album, SUPER EKSIS.

The album’s title track earned a spot at number 41 on Spotify’s Best Indonesian Songs of 2026 list. Reacting to the “SUPER EKSIS” video, one viewer noted, “semua gender tertarik” (“all genders are interested”). Syachreza maintained that pacing with the September 2026 release “NACKAL (Mama Papa Larang),” performing as part of ANTINRML’s collective showcase alongside performers like Suisei, Ryo, Dia, and Yung Caters at Synchronize Fest 2026.

Regional Roots and Eastern Anthems

Hipdut’s recent club dominance builds on regional foundations established years earlier. In Yogyakarta, NDX A.K.A. had been pairing hip-hop with regional cadences out of Bantul since 2011, establishing a path sustained by Pendhoza and contemporary dangdut koplo acts.

Further east, Toton Caribo operates in a lane that fuses rap with regional melody, releasing through Sony Music Entertainment Indonesia’s Megah Music imprint. Caribo teamed with Novia Bachmid and Jacson Zeran on “Ambon Manise” in March 2026, pulling over 4.8 million views within three weeks, climbing to number 18 on YouTube’s top music video chart, and winning a 2026 Indonesian Dangdut Award for collaborative regional release. Caribo followed by tracking his seventh studio collaboration with Justy Aldrin on “Hitung Hitung,” alongside the April 2026 drop “Ora Urus (Remix).”

The 88rising Trajectory: no na

Pop-R&B four-piece no na—Christy Gardena, Esther Geraldine, Baila Fauri, and Shazfa Adesya—entered the scene under 88rising. Debuting with the single “Shoot” in May 2025, the group spent a year in daily training before moving to Los Angeles in 2024 to record. While tracks like “superstitious” pull from synth-funk and new jack swing and “the one” uses 1980s R&B, their bilingual single “rollerblade” picked up over 33 million streams.

By the time no na issued their September 2026 debut album Island Girl, led by the opening track “Star” and the video for “dizzy 2025 (213),” their music had registered overseas: “Shoot” led MelOn’s Southeast Asian girl group chart in South Korea, and “work” entered Spotify’s Top 50 in Taiwan and South Korea while charting on iTunes across Mexico, Belgium, and Spain.

Back home, their output sat alongside Naufal Syachreza and Toton Caribo on Spotify’s best-of tallies, leading directly into Novia Bachmid, Toton Caribo, and Jacson Zeran’s collaborative August 2026 single, “WAYASE SEKA.”

  5. I'm an international Turkish fan, and I’m doing my best to stream, but I wish Indonesian fans also put effort into streaming these girls’ music. U guys are so good at streaming K-pop but weak in streaming No Na, why? If they were a kpop group the streams would be huge right now and we all know most views on kpop videos are thanks to south east asians. Please give them the support they deserve Indonesian fans (and also other Southeast Asians they represent you as well!!)

    • Which is sad because to me no na are way more beautiful than K-pop idols. They are healthy, fit, natural, sunkissed and talented. Meanwhile, most K-pop idols look unhealthy, and most of them can’t even sing.
